Parent and Teen Mindfulness Skills Group
Parents of my teen clients are always asking me what they can do at home to support their kid. In my experience, when a kid has the support of their parents they progress quicker and further in therapy. I teach Mindfulness skills to my Teenage clients because it helps them cope better with stress, social pressures, and helps improve focus. Mindfulness combined with common psychological approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is proved to be highly effective. If you have a teen with
depression, anxiety, or trouble in school they could really benefit from learning Mindfulness skills, and if you, as the parent, also learn these skills, the entire family will benefit.
Why group therapy?
Some of the benefits of group therapy are:
- Diversity of group members provides a variety of experiences and perspectives.
- Other group members provide valuable support where everyone shares similar struggles and you realize your challenges are not unique.
- The group can act as a helpful sounding board and a source of accountability as you learn better ways of coping.
- And Finally Groups are more cost effective.
What about confidentiality in a group?
Just like in individual therapy, confidentiality is one of the primary rules of the group. Of course you would only share what you feel comfortable sharing in the group setting. This group will have a strong educational component and we will practice Mindfulness exercises. You will have a variety of ways to interact in the group and you decide what feels comfortable for you.
When and Where? This group will take place on Zoom for 6 consecutive Thursdays 6:30-7:45pm. September 29th, October 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, and November 3rd.
Cost for the group is $299 per family. You can have as many family members attending as you like, however I ask that the same family members attend each week. This helps the group feel more cohesive as we will get to know each other over the 6 weeks and you will get the most benefit from attending all sessions.
